My Evening Skincare Routine

I have a love/hate relationship with my evening skincare routine. When I take care to do all the steps, I love how my skin looks and feels, but when I'm tucked up in bed, have turned off the TV and roll over to sleep, to then remember that I haven't taken my makeup off (worst feeling eh?), I just CBA to get back up and the baby wipes comes out.

For the most part when I do keep up with my evening skincare routine, these are the products that I'm reaching for:

Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil £10.99, Boots
This cleansing oil is lovely, removes my base makeup like a breeze and the orangey scent isn't too overpowering. Skin feels clean and silky. Would be handy if the bottle had a pump, but isn't too much of a pain.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish £13.25, John Lewis
I use Cleanse and Polish as a 2nd cleanser step after the SF oil. I've written a full review of the product here (albeit a very old review!) and still love it just as much. Cleanses the skin leaving it soft and not too stripped.

Clinique Take The Day Off £17.00, Boots (I have a sample version)
I got this makeup remover in a Clinique set that I received from a friend for my birthday, and I must say it does exactly what it says on the tin. I use other items to remover makeup from my ace, but this is perfect for getting rid of stubborn waterproof mascara. I haven't tried it on lipsticks yet, but am pretty sure it would be perfect at removing this too. A couple of swipes with a cotton pad and it's gone.

Superfacialist Rose Intense Moisture Mask £8.99, Boots
I've used this mask 3 times so far since I bought it, and although it may be a little early to say for sure, I'm going to say this may be a new HG product for me. It moisturises my skin so well and leaves it feeling the softest it has been in years. I can see this being perfect for those with dehydrated skin, leaves skin feeling nice and plump.

Caudalie Vinosource thirst Quenching Serum £29.00 Space NK
To amp up the skin plumpness further I am still using my fave Serum by Caudalie. Again, I have written a full review here. Hydrates skin so well and can still feel the affects the morning after.

Kiehl's Ultra Face Cream £24.00, John Lewis
Another oldie but a goodie. I'm on my 2nd pot of the Kiehl's Ultra Face Cream. Perfect for a deep moisturise. I also use this in my morning skincare routine. It sinks into the skin really well and does not feel sticky or greasy. Perfect.

(Products are available from other stockists, just stating where I bought mine.)

Do you use any of these products? Or have any suggestions for amazing skincare products? let me know in the comments below!

My Makeup Storage

After moving back home over Christmas, I had set my sights on moving back out and wanted to try and get some furniture together for getting a new place. Now in hindsight I was probably a little too excited, and I actually haven't gotten any further into getting somewhere of my own (not going to lie, the thought of making my own dinners and doing laundry again does put me off a little, I've been spoiled), but at least I've got an idea and a start on the type of furniture and look I want.

I first saw the MALM dresser on Vivianna Does Makeup and knew that I just had to have it - Anna's set up was beautiful! Clean and white, very slick, and I have since seen many other bloggers with this beaut too. So, after dragging the boy around the maze that is Ikea (I think 1 trip is enough stress to last me a while - I'll be online shopping from there in future!) I finally found it, and a few other pieces that fit together to make my ideal makeup centric setting. The dresser is quite long, with 1 drawer underneath a glass topped table and has the perfect amount of storage space for my favourite makeup bits. Sitting on top is the TYSNES mirror which is a great size and I like the shape too. To create little departments in the dresser drawer I bought 2 STÖDJA cutlery trays which is perfect for dividing my makeup into categories, making everything much easier to find!

To accompany the dresser I bought the NILS stool and stool cover. The cover is washable so perfect for easy cleaning of the foundation smudges and splatters that are inevitable when I'm getting ready half asleep in the mornings.

All were easy enough to put together (especially when you're watching someone else - I held the legs and put the stool cover on, every little helps) and were pretty good price wise too. I've linked all the items if you want to check them out.

My jewellery box was an 18th birthday present from my Aunt and Uncle, and houses all of my older rings and necklaces, which no longer see daylight (I really should sort them out to discover some hidden gems). And I love how it fits in with the whole white/glass/mirror theme. The lipstick holder on top was brought from eBay, there are lots of different sellers, I just chose the cheapest.

For the rings and earrings that I use on a more regular basis, I store them in a heart shaped dish that I found in Urban Outfitters, which was in the sale a few months ago. I've looked online and unfortunately cannot find it on their website, but after searching on eBay they have a huge selection of similar ones, which I may have to look into getting myself!

At the moment I store my makeup brushes in 2 old mugs. One is filled with the brushes that I reach for on a daily basis, and the other with the rest of the bunch. I'm after some plain jars to store them in to keep with the theme, but old Yankee candle jars are a good upcycle idea too (I've used these as vases before)

All in all, I love my set up, I may need to invest in some Muji storage soon, as the drawer is slowly but surely creeping into my overflow basket! Now I'm lusting after the rest of the MALM series. Must resist the urge.

Have any of you got a similar set up? Any handy storage tips?

Nails of The Day: Rimmel Salon Pro in Peppermint

On Tuesday, I had one of those days when you go into Boots for the simplest thing - mine cotton buds - and end up spending much more time and money than you planned, and forgetting what you actually went in for. After perusing the make-up counters I decided I wanted to get a new mint green polish to add to my collection, when this Rimmel one caught my eye.

The formula is lovely, as is the brush. I'm not a fan of the small skinny brushes as I don't think you can get the same smooth coverage (in my shaky handed opinion anyway!) I used 3 coats, but you could get away with using 2.

This is most definitely going to be a holiday shade for me (I go to Mexico in 2 weeks, YAY!) and will be popped in my suitcase ready for action.

Have any of you tried any of the Rimmel Salon Pro polishes? Or have any other mint picks to try? Let me know in the comments!

Review: Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum

After previously getting a sample of the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum in a glossy box (way back in last April), I really loved it's silky smooth-ness and the way it left my face feeling so hydrated. Until around about Christmas, I felt that my skincare routine was missing something, and had always had this beaut of a product in the back of my mind, I just needed to take the plunge and buy it!

All I use is one pump, after toner and before moisturiser, rub between my fingers and then work over my face. It glides onto the skin, is very hydrating and leaves your skin feeling plump (even the morning after).

I think it's pretty safe to say that I love this product. I'm now on my second bottle, after my first one lasted around 4 months, and I don't plan on kicking this one out of the beauty regime any time soon.

Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum is priced at £29 (£26.10 on Feel Unique with free shipping!) and available from John Lewis, Space NK, Feel Unique and other Caudalie stockists.

Have any of you tried the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum? Or have you got your own holy grail serum? Let me know in the comments below!

Top Spring Nail Picks

Well, Spring seems to finally have sprung (touch wood - I'm not jinxing it!) and although I'm not quite brave enough to throw on my shorts just yet, I'm definitely embracing the spring colours on my talons. Bring on my Spring nails picks!

First up is a Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polish in Blueberry. I like the formula of the Gelly polishes, two coats and it's opaque with a hi shine finish. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Added bonus - I can get away with wearing this one at work as it matches my work shirt! I also have the Gelly polish in Grapefruit which is lovely, a real barbie pink (not pictured).

Onto probably my fave of the bunch - Essie Watermelon. Dark pinky red in colour, an absolute dream to apply, pretty much opaque with no streaks in 1 coat and fast drying time. I can't fault the application of Essie polishes. A real pick-me-up colour!

Not only does this next polish look great, it's scented too! Revlon Strawberry Cream (I'm seeing a fruity pattern starting to form here?) is a true coral. The scent fades quite quickly after application, I use 2/3 coats, but it beats the normal headache inducing fumes. I've been using my Revlon Matte Finish top coat with it to give it a bit of a twist.

Last but certainly not least is another Barry M polish - you really can't go wrong with Baz can you! One of the latest offerings from the brand is their Textured Nail Effects, which I have been loving. My favourite at the moment is Ridley Road, a mint green, which dries quite matte, with a similar look as sandpaper, but less rough! The only downside to this polish is that I found it likes to attract smudges of make-up and gets dirty quite quickly.

Have any of these polishes tickled your pickle? Do you have any other Spring picks I should try out? Let me know in the comments!

The Make Up Bag: Downsizing

Above is what is currently in my 'everyday' make-up bag. Why I have so much, god only knows. I pretty much use the same products every day, and always have to root around for them. Time to downsize.

So which products made the cut?

I didn't realise I have so may MAC products in my daily routine. To start I always use Benefit The Porefessional primer, followed by my foundation (not pictured). I tend to mix it up and flip between using Estee Lauder Double Wear and MAC Studio Sculpt.

Next I conceal spots and under the eyes with MAC Studio Finish Concealer and Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer. Then onto powder. I dust a small amount, mainly over my t-zone, of MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Light Plus and contour with Medium Deep.

Time to get cheeky. For blush I use Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in Apricot and dust a little MAC Peaches over the top to set the cream blush and make the colour last longer. My favourite cheek highlight of the minute is Nars Albatross.

For eyes, I use MAC All That Glitters, without fail. Maybe a little darker colour in the crease if I want to push the boat out. A cat flick eye is a must, and I use MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack. Give my lashes a bit of oompf with Shu Uemura eye lash curlers and a flick of L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic.

For eyebrows, I've just started to use Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 001 Dark Brown. Give them a little comb through with the brush on the end, and set with GOSH Defining Brow Gel.

Lips, for day time I usually just reach for Sleek Pout Polish in Peach Perfection, or MAC Shy Girl.

And that's my daily make-up, downsized.

What are your products you can't live without?
